On this day in UK history:
19th January
1937 – 18 year old English ballerina – Margot Fonteyn – made her debut in “Giselle”
at Sadler’s Wells in London.
Margot was widely regarded as one of the greatest
classical ballet dancers of all
time. She spent her entire career as a dancer with The Royal Ballet eventually
being appointed: Prima Ballerina Assoluta of
the company by Queen Elizabeth II.
